ct wing and vibrissae phenotype.

Homozygous embryos lack Malpighian tubules and the gut wall is 3--4 fold thicker than wild type at the junction of the posterior and anterior midgut.

Shifting ctL1/ct2s; su(Hw)e2/su(Hw)2 embryos from 18oC to 29oC and vice versa demonstrates that the temperature sensitive period of su(Hw) gene product activity to block the ct wing enhancer is during pupariation, expression of ct is required just prior to pupariation and until 16-20h postpupariation.
