Eye of seunspecified dn1 has unpigmented spot (in middle or toward posterior) at emergence from puparium. Spot gradually darkens; after 2 days, eyes appear sepia. Difficult to detect with wild-type eye color, appears as slightly lighter red spot, which disappears after 2 days. Viability low; many die as pupae at 25oC. Viability nearly normal at 17oC but character not detectable. Both sexes highly infertile; testes about one-third normal length. Spermathecae very small. External genitalia of both sexes often abnormal. RK3.
