Polytene chromosomes normal.
Deletion of approximately 300bp removing part of the open reading frame.
Homozygous embryos have denticle belts around their entire circumference. Dorsally derived head and tail structures are lost.
dppH47/Df(2L)DTD2 animals die during embryogenesis. dppH47/Df(2L)DTD2 clones are associated with abnormalities in the wing and notum. dppH47/Df(2L)DTD2 clones in the posterior compartment of the wing can develop into normal wing blade, but are not fully competent to form veins. The presence of a dppH47/Df(2L)DTD2 clone on either the dorsal or ventral surface where a vein would normally form is sufficient to disrupt the vein.
Fail to complete germ band extension, die with strong ventralized phenotype and no dorsal derived epidermis.
Homozygotes have a ventralized embryonic phenotype: normally ventral epidermal pattern elements are present ventrally and dorsally.
Mutant phenotype could not be rescued by P element mediated transformation of a wild type copy of dpp.
Allele class: Hin
Clonal analysis shows that there is a localised requirement for dpp+ function along the anterior-posterior (A/P) compartment boundary of the developing wing primordium; normal wing development is solely dependent on dpp+ function in the anterior compartment cells that border the A/P compartment boundary of the wing imaginal disk.
