Polytene chromosomes normal.
Homozygous females have rudimentary ovaries. Their attachment to the oviduct is abnormal and the ovaries are easily detachable from the oviducts upon dissection, probably due to defects in the cells of the calyx of the oviduct. Germaria are present with terminal filaments at their apical tips, but no vitellaria. The germaria are filled with cells with large, round, polytenised nuclei. The females do not lay eggs.
