Abnormal oogenesis. Some of the eggs derived from homozygous germline clones arrest at early cleavage stages. Of the remaining eggs some hatch but some survive to adulthood and only a few of them exhibit abdominal and thoracic defects. Embryos that complete gastrulation begin to show a mild pattern of aberrant cell death but show near normal segmentation. Homozygous females are associated with a germline-dependent ovarian tumour phenotype that increases with age.
