Emergence of adults is poorly synchronised compared to wild-type under light-dark conditions. Emergence of homozygotes is almost arrhythmic after 2-3 cycles in constant darkness, in contrast to wild-type. Homozygotes show a family of low amplitude circadian and non-circadian periodicities in constant darkness.
Eclosion of flies is poorly synchronized in a light-dark cycle, and eclosion becomes arrhythmic in constant darkness. Fluctuations of male's courtship song interpulse intervals define a sloppy rhythm or are arrhythmic (Jackson and Kyriacou).
Allelic to psi-2, based on aberrant short-term rhythms of courtship song in gat1/psi-2 males (Kyriacou).
