Flies have ectopic bristles.

No effect on the faf eye phenotype.

Homozygotes display ectopic bristles on the L2 wing vein.

(Rushlow et al., 1989)

Transheterozygotes with h^L43a have an extra chaetae phenotype.

(Fasano et al., 1988)

Homozygotes have a wild-type segmentation pattern. Class I allele: fully complements the lethality and segmentation phenotype of h²⁵, and shows a strong bristle phenotype in trans with h¹.

viable Extra hairs on wings but fewer than in h¹. Extra hairs not present on scutellum, pleurae, or top of head. Bristles cylindrical with javelin heads. Some abnormal abdomen effect. RK2.

Comments

When in combination with h^hs.P1 the ectopic bristle phenotype is completely suppressed. The temperature sensitive period for the bristle phenotype is 6-11 hours post-pupariation. Segmentation phenotype can be rescued by h^cosh and h^tRa, but the extra bristle phenotype cannot.
