The wing margin is nicked to various degrees, with the costal vein most frequently interrupted. Extra wing venation is often seen, and occasionally is anastomosing, giving a plexus, particularly at the wing apex. Eyes are smaller than normal and occasionally slightly rough. Bristles are thin. Males are small and late in eclosion and have reduced viability. Females are sterile.
