At 18oC homozygous males and females exhibit reduced bristle length and thickness, often the posterior verticals and posterior scutellars are missing. Wing shows incisions on the inner margin and wing veins are netted at the distal ends.
Lethality occurs during larval and pupal stages at 25oC C. At 18oC individuals have fine bristles, lack the posterior vertical and scutellar bristle, wing veins L2, L3 and L5 are frequently netted at their distal ends and there are incisions on the inner wing margin. At 18oC males are fertile. Females have a rudimentary ovary and the functional ovary has a reduced number of ovarioles. Individuals survive at 25oC or 28oC when Dp(1;4)wm65g is present.

Shows a maternal-zygotic interaction, demonstrated in males carrying mutant allele from heterozygous mother and variegating allele in the paternally derived Dp(1;4)mg.
