5-10% of Catsupfs1 heterozygous adults have melanotic pseudotumours. Hemizygous females show an abnormal retention of eggs, with every ovariole of a 4-day old adult containing 2 to 5 normal-sized oocytes. Approximately 50% of the oocytes lack dorsal appendages. Rudimentary filaments do form in the remainder of the oocytes, suggesting that oogenesis can proceed until stage 13. A chorion membrane and a micropyle are always present.
