      3% of l(2)37Cd1/l(2)37Cd5 animals eclose, giving rise to adults which are smaller than normal, have a lighter body colour than normal, have thin bristles, a flattened dorsal side of the abdomen and incompletely sclerotinised wings which have delicate wavy edges. Females appear to have a foreshortened abdomen. l(2)37Cd5/l(2)37Cd1 females are sterile.
