      22% of l(2)37Cd5/l(2)37Cd8 animals and 12% of l(2)37Cd2/l(2)37Cd8 animals eclose, giving rise to adults which are smaller than normal, have a lighter body colour than normal, have thin bristles, a flattened dorsal side of the abdomen and incompletely sclerotinised wings which have delicate wavy edges. Females appear to have a foreshortened abdomen. l(2)37Cd5/l(2)37Cd8 and l(2)37Cd8/l(2)37Cd2 females are sterile. Some l(2)37Cdts1/l(2)37Cd8 females are fertile.
