202bp deletion causing an N-terminal truncation.
Homozygous germline clones in adult females contain spectrosome-containing, putative germline stem cells (GSCs) in region 1 of the germarium, as occurs in wild type. However, regions 1, 2 and 3 of the mutant germaria lack branched fusomes and are instead populated with predominantly individual germline cells containing a spectrosome-like organelle (which is larger than that of a GSC). The mutant germline cells containing these spectrosome-like organelles become encapsulated by follicle cells and bud off from the germarium, forming forming pseudo-egg chambers. Clones induced at the larval stage or in adult females result in the same phenotype.
Homozygous somatic stem cells in the ovary divide and differentiate, producing stage 1-9 egg chambers that are indistinguishable from wild type.
magoSHL1 has lethal phenotype, suppressible by Cele\mag-1mago.PN
Cele\mag-1mago.PN, magoSHL1 has viable phenotype
Two copies of Cele\mag-1mago.PN are necessary to rescue the lethality of magoSHL1.
magoSHL1 is partially rescued by mago1.Tag:MYC
Zygotic lethality is rescued by mago+t2.2.T:Hsap\MYC, mago+t2.2.T:Avic\GFP and mago1.T:Hsap\MYC. magoSHL1 homozygous females carrying mago1.T:Hsap\MYC give rise to sterile progeny.
