Lethal at the time of puparium formation. Mature larvae are enlarged and bloated, and appear transparent due to a reduction of the fat body. The third larval instar stage can be prolonged for up to one week. The imaginal discs represent transplantable, benign and lethal neoplasms and the brain develops a malignant neuroblastoma.
