Homozygous adults show a partial reduction in their response to benzaldehyde in olfactory tests. Homozygous larvae do not show a significant change in the threshold of benzaldehyde detection, but there is an 80% reduction in maximal response compared to wild-type. Homozygous adults show a decreased response to salicylaldehyde and formaldehyde, while responses to ethyl acetate, acetone, acetic acid and ethanol are normal.
