Homozygous adults have an elevated threshold of benzaldehyde detection in an olfactory test. Responses to ethyl acetate, iso-amyl acetate, propionic acid and butanol are normal. Eggs laid by olfFx27/Df(1)w-vco females have a normal morphology and are fertile.
Compared to wild-type flies, olfF adults require a higher concentration of benzaldehyde for detection in Y-tube olfactometer (e.g. no response at a dilution of 10-5, which readily repels wild-type flies). Mutant shows normal responses to acetates, propionic acid and butanol. olfF/Df(1)w-vco females are fertile.
