Detailed Description

Heterozygous and Scr8/Df(3R)WIN3 males have no sex comb bristles on the prothoracic leg.

The number of nuclei in the salivary glands of Scr8/Df(3R)WIN3 larvae is not significantly different from normal.

Scr8/Df(3R)WIN3 flies have a reduced number of rows of pseudotrachea on the proboscis compared to controls. This phenotype is cold sensitive

Scr8/Scr13A flies have a reduced number of rows of pseudotrachea on the proboscis compared to controls.

Scr8/ScrWrv5 transheterozygous pharate adults dissected from the pupal case exhibit ectopic wing formation in the dorsal anterior region of the prothorax, just ventral to the tergite in the dorsal pleuron. A normal wing forms in the mesothorax.

Prothoracic to mesothoracic, pronotal to mesonotal and labial to maxillary transformations. Slight decrease in viability at the permissive temperature, 29oC, and lethality at the restrictive temperature, 18oC. Polyphasic semi-lethality.
