Lethality occurs during larval or pupal stages. Homozygous germline clones display cell lethality. Embryos derived from heterozygous mothers exhibit neither CNS or PNS defects.

su(f)4/su(f)6 females are fully viable and normal at 17-18oC, vary in viability and show a broad streak of dark pigment on the thorax at 24-25oC, but die some time before puparium formation at 29-30oC.

su(f)4/su(f)6 females are fully viable and normal at 17-18oC. At 24-25oC, they vary in viability, show a broad streak of dark pigment on the thorax which is sometimes concentrated at the dorsal anterior region and have wings which sometimes stick up and out. At 29-30oC, they die just prior to puparium formation. su(f)6/su(f)1 shows a Minute-like phenotype at 24-25oC and results in lethality at 29-30oC.

Homozygotes lethal at the larval stage; homozygous germ-line clones don't survive; no effect on development of peripheral or central nervous systems (Perrimon, Smouse, and Miklos, 1989). Lethal with su(f)3 at 25oC and with su(f)4 at 29oC.

su(f)6 complements su(f)4 only at 25oC. The allelic state of z has no effect on complementation behaviour.
