    Ubx61d, Ubxpbx-1/Ubxbx-34e mutants show a haltere-to-wing transformation.

Ubxabx-1 Ubxbx-3 Ubx61d Ubxpbx-1/Df(3R)P2 mutants show transformation of T3 into T2 resulting in the replacement of halteres with a second set of wings. The homeotically transformed T3 segment resembles T2 in size. The homeotically transformed T3 segment can contain homeotic DVM-I, DVM-II, DVM-III, DLM and DFM muscles.

In Ubx61d/Ubxbxd-100 larvae A1 is transformed to T3, and a pair of incomplete presumptive leg neuromeres is formed in this transformed segment. In Ubx9.22/Ubxbxd-100 adults the commissures of the CNS in parasegment 6 are partially transformed to resemble those of parasegment 5.

RK2. Heterozygotes exhibit Ubx-like phenotype except for a very slight wing-like development of the posterior portion of the distal segment of the haltere. Heterozygotes with Ubxbx-3 has halteres partially wing-like but lack conversion of metanotum towards mesonotum.
