      Recessive allele, weaker than vtw1. Penetrance of flightless phenotype 85%. Penetrance of vertical wing phenotype 63%.

      Scant DLMs, reduced DVMs, disorganized myofibrils and disturbed Z discs.

      vtw2 flies are 95% viable, 85% flightless and cannot jump more than 2cm. 63% hold their wings vertically.

      vtw2 flies lack dorsoventral fibres (DVMs) 7-9. Dorsal longitudinal fibres (DLMs) 1-4 are occasionally present and fibres 5 and 6 and 10-13 are present in 60-70% of flies.
