      Antenna to leg transformation.

      55 minutes heat shocks administered between 72 and 96 hours after egg laying causes the appearance of leg-like bristles with bracts on the third antennal segment and morphological transformations such as thickened aristas and tarsal segments. Morphological and bristle transformation are induced by heat shocks between 78 and 92 hours.

      Heat shock causes failure of head involution, ectopic denticles in the head and loss of the T1 beard. The endogenous salivary gland is inhibited, and the adult head shows antenna to T2 leg transformation, denticles on the head and reduction of eye size.
