Adults expressing NΔCDC10.hs (using 37oC heat shock) show normal reactivity to electric shock and normal olfactory acuity (to methylcyclohexanol). These flies show normal learning scores in a Pavlovian learning and memory assay. However, they show a significant reduction in one-day memory after spaced training compared to controls. One day memory after massed training in flies expressing NΔCDC10.hs using heat shock is not different from controls, indicating that long term memory, but not anesthesia-resistant memory, is affected.

Potentiates the effects of dshhs.PA in the wing.

Strong neurogenic phenotype in N+ embryos. Unable to rescue the cuticle phenotype of N264-47 embryos.

Heat shock causes aberrant wing vein pattern, wing nicking, rough eye and missing thoracic microchaetae. This allele behaves almost exactly like NECN.hs, suggesting that the cdc10 repeat region is essential for N intracellular function.
