      Ectopic expression of Poxnhs.PN using heat shock for 30-60 minutes at 12 hours after puparium formation gives rise to a few ectopic small bristles on wing vein III. Extra vein tissue or fused veins are also produced.

      Overexpression of Poxn induces the morphological transformation of mechanosensory into chemosensory bristles on the adult legs; the neurons innervating the morphologically transformed bristles follow pathways and establish connections that are appropriate for chemosensory bristles.
