      Heat shock induced expression of Scrhs.PG causes defects in the larval head, including defects in head involution.

      Heat shocked embryos display varying degrees of homeotic transformation: T1 ventral beard appears ectopically in T2 and T3 segments. Head involution is disrupted and the cephalopharyngeal skeleton is reduced. Heat shock of larvae causes dramatic reduction of adult compound eye, aristae to tarsal transformation and disfigured maxillary palps, labial palps and swollen occiputs.
