      Partial to complete rescue of the ftz mutant phenotype: denticle belt of abdominal segment A3 often present, posterior spiracles and filzkorper are well differentiated. Resued structures correspond to parasegments 8 and 14 and ftz expression stripes 4 and 7. ftzQ50K has a similar in vitro binding specificity as bcd, but even so does not activate hb ectopically.
