Nucleotide change:

G10632284A

Reported nucleotide change:

G?A

Amino acid change:

E273K | hay-PA; E273K | hay-PB

Reported amino acid change:

E278K

Comment:

The amino acid numbering differs between FBrf0108244 and the reference sequence. The positions and nature of the base substitutions in the mutants are derived from the sequence in Fig. 1 and from Table 1, and provide unambiguous assignments.

Detailed Description
Statement

Homozygotes are lethal at 25[o]C.

haync2/haync2rv8 animals show 49.7% viability. 11.1% of haync2/haync2rv8 adults have deformed and fragile macrochaetae and microchaetae, 15.3% have a reduction of the endocuticular layer of the abdominal cuticle and 0% show loss of wing marginal regions and blistered wings.

Mutants are UV sensitive.

Viable. Flies heterozygous for this allele and a deficiency for hay show increased sensitivity to ultraviolet irradiation.

Viable as hemizygotes: partially restore hay function toward wild type.

Flies carrying Cdk7P140S in a heterozygous Df(1)JB254 P{snf+,dhd+} background (the Df(1)JB254 chromosome is deficient for Cdk7, snf and dhd and snf and dhd function is provided by the P{snf+,dhd+} transgene) at the restrictive temperature that are also carrying one copy of haync2rv8 show brittle bristle and cuticle defect phenotypes. The penetrance of the wing phenotypes (shape deformities and size reduction) seen in flies carrying Cdk7P140S in a heterozygous Df(1)JB254 P{snf+,dhd+} background at the restrictive temperature is increased if they are also carrying one copy of haync2rv8. These animals do not show abnormal amounts of apoptosis in the imaginal discs or central nervous system.
