      The lethality and neural phenotype can be reverted to wild type by the removal of the P-element by transposase activity. Imprecise excision of the P-element generated four deletions that exhibited an amorphic phenotype (complete loss of longitudinal tracts in the embryonic CNS and the fusion of the two commissures in each segment).
