macrochaeta & leg
Ectopic expression of ttkhs.PB at 16-18 hours after puparium formation leads to the formation of many duplicated bristles on the notum and leg. These bristles are never innervated and many morphologically normal bristles also lack innervation. Sense organs with an abnormal complement of external structures are often seen. Microchaetae on the notum consist of a single shaft and socket, a double shaft within a common socket or a single shaft with a socket-like structure with two raised edges when ttkhs.PB is expressed at 16 hours after puparium formation. When ttkhs.PB is expressed at 18 hours after puparium formation, the microchaetae often show complete duplication of the external structure, forming a "double socket and double shaft". Ectopic expression of ttkhs.PB at 12 hours after puparium formation leads to the absence of mechanosensory bristles and their neurons on the notum and legs. A small number of microchaetae are present on the notum, with most of the bristles being reduced to a single shaft without a socket. Ectopic expression of ttkhs.PB at 8 or 10 hours after puparium formation leads to the absence of nearly all microchaetae on the notum.
Ectopic ttk expression causes complete or near complete repression of ftz and significant repression of eve, odd, h and runt.
