Two tandem copies of the BLE1 element are fused to bcd sequences.
As for bcdΔ21.LZ i.e. a deletion of bases 4056-4726 (coordinates of FBrf0047926) in bcd 3' UTR, with addition of a 1.3kb Ecol\lacZ gene fragment to aid detection in in situ hybridizations, and with addition of two copies of that sequence deleted in bcdΔ14, the BLE.
During early stages ofoogenesis the bcdΔ21.2BLE1.T:EcollacZ transcript is localized similarlyto wild type bcd, however, as oocyte development proceeds the transcriptdiffuses throughout the oocyte.
Transcripts are localized in the oocyte, but only in the early steps of the bcd localization pathway.
