Description

Insertion of a deleted 1847bp hobo into the third intron, 462bp 5' to the beginning of the 4th exon. hobo has an internal deletion (1086bp) between positions 995 to 2082, with a G inserted at the deleted junction.

Insertion of a 1.6kb deleted hobo.

Wing length increases with increasing temperature.

Wings have terminal notches and lateral excisions. Halteres and scutellar bristles are wild-type. Viability and fertility are normal.

Unstable allele; reverts spontaneously to wild-type or a more extreme vg phenotype. This instability is thermosensitive; wild-type revertants (vgal+) arise mainly at 21oC, and extreme vg derivatives (vge) arise mainly at 28oC.

Genetic instability of the mutant is thermosensitive. At 28oC vgext1 derivatives appear, at 21oC revertants are more common. Excision of the hobo produces wild type revertants.
