      Flies homozygous for wen.5 show pairing-sensitive silencing (eye colour is lighter than in heterozygotes) in 54% of lines.

      60% of lines carrying insertions of this allele show pairing sensitive w gene expression, i.e. eye colour of homozygotes is lighter than or indistinguishable from that of heterozygotes. 20% of inserts show a patterned eye phenotype.
