Two tandem copies of a mutated 260bp twi proximal element (PE) (located between -440 and -180 relative to the twi promoter), in which i. the core sequences of the low affinity TD4 and TD5 dl binding sites have been mutated to the optimal sequence to create high affinity sites and ii. two copies of an E box with the core sequence CAGGTG (recognized by both bHLH activators and sna) have been inserted just upstream of the TD4 and TD5 dl binding sites, followed by twi sequence from -180 to +160bp relative to the transcription start site, are fused upstream of lacZ.
Expressed in two lateral stripes thatare 4-5 cells wide. Similar to EcollacZtwi.PEe-Eds but more intense.Similar but not identical to the rho expression pattern. Expression isexcluded from the ventral-most 18 cells.
