Description

Construct: Sos coding region from nucleotides 1 to 5533 is expressed from a heat inducible heat shock promoter and governed by a sev enhancer. Encoded product includes the amino terminus, the pleckstrin homology domain, the catalytic domain and the proline-rich C terminus.

      When introduced into a sev6/Y;SosJC2/+ background, 33% ommatidia have R7 cells as opposed to 17% for sev6/Y;SosJC2/+ with no transgene. Promotes the development of R7 cells in sev6 flies but not sev14 flies.
