Contains 1480bp upstream sequences, and the coding sequence of Yp2 (except for 12 codons at the carboxyl terminus), fused in frame to SUC2 sequences, which encode the complete cytoplasmic form of Saccharomyces cerevisiae invertase.

      Female flies homozygous for Yp2430.T:Scer\SUC2 are sterile or semi-sterile. Eggs derived from these females are fragile and collapse easily. Embryos do not hatch and form a mass in the centre of the egg.
