Description

Deletion of 3' end of 13.1kb fragment carrying the l(2)gl transcription unit, removing 1803 nucleotides from the 3' end of the 6kb l(2)gl transcript, and consequently removing 141 amino acids from the C terminal of the putative p127 protein.

Comment:

Deletion of 2.6kb StuI-EcoRI fragment of 3' end of l(2)gl+t13.1. Construct rescues l(2)gl mutant phenotype. Position of restriction fragment on reference sequence inferred by FlyBase curator.

Detailed Description

Reference

The timing of salivary gland histolysis is delayed compared to wild type in animals carrying l(2)gl+tMd. The appearance of cytoplasmic vacuoles (which precedes the histolysis in wild type) is also delayed, and the vacuoles persist over a longer period than normal without giving rise to cell lysis. The duration of larval, prepupal and pupal development is normal in these animals.

Suppresses the tumour phenotype of l(2)gl mutations.

Tumour phenotype of l(2)gl deficient animals is rescued, but viability is reduced, with about 60% of animals dying as pharate adults, unable to emerge from the pupal case.
