Heat shock of adult transformants fails to rescue adult paralysis phenotype but completely rescues heat induced lethality. 1 hour heat pulse to transformants once a day throughout development until adult eclosion permanently cures the temperature induced paralysis phenotype. A combination of shift-up and shift-down experiments defines a developmental window during which expression of tipE+ is critical for the rescue, between 72 and 120 hours of postpuparium formation. A single heat shock within the critical phase results in partial rescue.
