adult thorax & macrochaeta, with Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096
Expression of salrScer\UAS.cBa throughout the wing blade driven by Scer\GAL4C-765 eliminates wing vein L2 and L5.
Low levels of ectopic salrScer\UAS.cBa expression in thoracic cells when driven by Scer\GAL4C-765 cause a weak expansion of the anterior postalar proneural cluster. Several extra macrochaetae are differentiated in ectopic positions. Stronger ectopic expression of salrScer\UAS.cBa driven by Scer\GAL4C-765 causes a larger expansion of the proneural clusters, including a larger expansion of the dorsocentral and notopleural clusters (which now appear fused). There is also the apparent loss of the postalar proneural cluster and the absence or size reduction of some macrochaetae. When expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 the macrochaetae are effected dramatically. Only anterior postalar bristles form normally; the others disappear or differentiate as extremely small bristles.
Flies expressing salrScer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 generally lack wing veins L2 and L5. Macrochaetae are also frequently missing from the thorax.
