Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Overexpression of Hsp70Bb+t14 and Hsp70Bc+t14 after heat shock (in animals carrying P{FRT(whs,3Xwt70).A}) does not confer enhanced protection against hyperthermia, but has deleterious effects on parameters of larval locomotory behaviour.

A 30 minute exposure at 36oC in females carrying extra copies of Hsp70 (female carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A}) results in a decrease in the proportion of eggs that hatch compared to control heat shocked flies. A 60 minute exposure to 36oC results in a decrease in the proportion of eggs that hatch both in control heat shocked flies and in flies carrying extra copies of Hsp70 (female carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A}).

First instar larvae carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A} are more thermotolerant than control larvae in the absence of pretreatment or with a 10 minute pretreatment at 36oC before heat shock. Control larvae are more thermotolerant than larvae carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A} if they receive a 30 minute pretreatment before heat shock.

Statement

Hsp70Bc+t14;Hsp70Bb+t14 double mutant adults do not show any eye defects.

Flies carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A} are more resistant to paraquat than control lines. Flies carrying P{>whs,3Xwt70>A} and subjected to heat shock do not show enhanced stress resistance compared to control lines subjected to heat shock.

Statement
Reference

The progressive degeneration and pigmentation loss eye phenotype characteristic for flies expressing Hsap\ATXN3tr.Q78.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is not modified by combination with Hsp70Bc+t14 together with Hsp70Bb+t14.
