      Provides partial function for both assembly of axonemal microtubules and supramolecular organisation of the axoneme. The presence of the βTub60D-specific C terminus alleviates but does not fully rescue the strong dominant defects that result from coexpression of βTub85D with βTub60D in the postmitotic male germ line.
