A chimeric construct consisting of full length rdgB in which the PITP domain has been replaced by Rnor\Pitpna is expressed under the control of a ninaE promoter.
Flies expressing rdgB::Rnor\PITPNAninaE.PM in a wild-type background have a dose-dependent loss of the deep pseudopupil. The flies have numerous holes in the retina and the R1-R6 rhabdomeres are reduced in size relative to the R7 rhabdomere. The R1-R6 microvillar rhabdomeres show some signs of unpacking. The ERG light response amplitude of flies expressing rdgB::Rnor\PITPNAninaE.PM in a wild-type background is essentially wild-type.
Fails to rescue rdgB2, and may cause additional adverse effects; the initial electroretinogram (ERG) light response of rdgB2 flies carrying rdgB::Rnor\PITPNAninaE.PM has a significantly smaller amplitude than that of rdgB2 flies.
