      Role of the yemα nascent peptide in transport was studied by mutating the start codon of yemα protein to TTG. No difference in expression pattern was observed when compared to the EcollacZyemα.D construct which is identical in every way except for the start codon. Expression is detected in a pattern similar to wild-type yemα transcript.
