Single cysts in the testis of homozygous males often contain 12 to 14 primary spermatocytes instead of 8 as in wild-type males. Spermatid nuclei of unequal size are seen in homozygous males, suggesting that male meiosis is irregular. The number of Nebenkerne is reduced and they are vacuolated. Development of the protein body is abnormal. Sperm development arrests before individualisation. The development of the oocyte ceases at stage 10 in homozygous females.
