FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Most embryos derived from sicunspecified mutant females have narrow denticle bands, and the ventral arms of the head skeleton are fused. Some embryos appear normal and hatch, while others die early with irregular cell cleavage patterns. This phenotype is germline-dependent but may also have a somatic component.
