FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
The oesophagus is shorter than normal and the proventriculus is defective in mutant embryos; the keyhole that forms the beginning of the proventriculus is missing.
fasunspecified mutant embryos have poorly developed cuticle with necrotic patches and an abnormal head. Abnormalities are first visible in the extended germ band stage.
An unspecified 'fas' allele was used in FBrf0045941 and FBrf0106865. The specified 'fas' alleles used in those references (fas[1], fas[2] and fas[k04221]) have now been made alleles of 'CG6197/fand'. Therefore, the 'fas[unspecified]' allele has also been made an allele of CG6197/fand.
