      Homozygous females have undeveloped ovaries, homozygous males have no motile sperm. Flies also show a semidominant metaphase block in mitosis and meiosis. 100% of male cyst cells are arrested at metaphase 1, and metaphase figures have overcondensed chromosomes with irregularly staining chromatin. Onion-stage nuclei fail to elongate and have abnormally highly condensed chromosomes for this stage.
