Pigmented area corresponds to dorsal half of the eye, with a pigmentation level ranging from orange to red. Ventral section of eye is yellow, with a ventral posterior red section and some mottling. The proportion of pigmented ommatidia increases when the flies are raised at 18^oC compared to 25^oC. The small ventral pigmented area is enlarged.
