Most homozygotes die at the pupal stage, although some homozygous males survive to emerge as adults. The dead pupae and adult escapers have underdeveloped and abnormal abdomens, with fewer bristles than normal and misshapen cuticles. Viable in combination with Df(3L)HnDEB; females are fertile, males are sterile. These hemizygous flies show a bristle phenotype similar to qm57.
