FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Homozygous females produce normal numbers of eggs but they do not hatch. Males are mostly fertile. Homozygotes of both sexes have reduced pigmentation in abdominal segments 1 to 5, especially in the more anterior segments. Wings frequently fail to expand fully and often contain bubbles.
