Breakpoint in or just adjacent to the eyg coding region.
The salivary duct primordium forms normally in eygC53/Df(3L)eygC1 embryos but is unable to complete the first convergence and extension and instead remains as two clumps of cells. Approximately 75% of eygC53/Df(3L)eygC1 embryos have no individual salivary ducts, and the remaining 25% have only one individual salivary duct which is almost always malformed. The salivary glands of eygC53/Df(3L)eygC1 larvae lack small, imaginal ring nuclei. eygC53/Df(3L)eygC1 animals hatch and pupariate and some survive to adulthood.
