A fragment containing the intergenic region between Pig1 and Sgs4 is inserted between two divergently transcribed coding sequences (Adh and the lacZ reporter). The fragment extends from +8 relative to the Pig1 transcription start site to +55 relative to the Sgs4 transcription start site. The sequence between -511 and -507 is TGCTT (this alteration disrupts the Sebp1 binding site). The orientation of the fragment is such that the Pig1 promoter is proximal to Adh while the Sgs4 promoter is proximal to lacZ.
